This work contributes to the history of the Imperial Order of Guadalupe by analyzing documents from the archives of C.F. Rothe & Neffe, a Viennese company that manufactured the medals for the Second Mexican Empire. The study departs from traditional historical methods by incorporating sources previously overlooked, such as communications between imperial officers involved in the Second Mexican Empire. These primary sources offer a unique, direct perspective on historical events, even though they may be influenced by the officers' biases. The research focuses specifically on documents related to the Imperial Order of Guadalupe, covering its establishment in 1822 and 1852, and its role during the Second Mexican Empire (1864-1867) under Emperor Maximilian.

The author does not analyze all letters in the archives but selects those pertinent to the subject, especially the jewelry orders related to Empress Charlotte and court officials. The research is framed within these key historical periods, and the book aims to inspire further investigation into the topic. The author acknowledges the importance of careful selection and interpretation of sources and expresses gratitude to their family for support during the project.
